Drink & Drive Case, Clean PCC – Disclosure for Ireland Study Visa?

22-Jan-2026 (In Criminal Law)
I am applying for an Ireland long-stay study visa. I had a drink & drive case in India went to court and case was disposed with a guilty plea and fine (no jail, no pending case). I have now received a Police Clearance Certificate stating “no adverse information which would render me ineligible for education in Ireland.” Visa form asks: “Have you any criminal convictions in any country?” Should I still disclose the case despite a clean PCC?

Yes. You should disclose it. A guilty plea with fine amounts to a conviction, even if no jail and PCC is clean. Non-disclosure can be treated as misrepresentation and may lead to refusal. Honest disclosure with explanation is safer.

Yes. Since there was a conviction with guilty plea and fine, it should be disclosed. Clean PCC helps, but non-disclosure may be treated as misrepresentation and risk visa refusal in consonance with the concerned provisions.
