Don't know exactly they are filled FIR or not

20-Sep-2026 (In Criminal Law)
Around 4–5 years ago, some customers of my digital marketing agency threatened to file an FIR/police complaint against me because I could not provide the services. Since then, I have not received any police call, notice, summons, or court communication. They did not have my address, but they had my WhatsApp/mobile number. Is it possible that an FIR was already registered against me 4–5 years ago and I still have not been informed about it?

beliving on version of your say, its quite impossible to lodge FIR against you, unable to provide services to your client due to some tehnical limitations or some other reason does not fall under cope of criminal offence so no any police authority can register FIR against you for the Services, But if you had cheated, or commited any fraud against any of your customer or client then definately it will amount to offence, I will suggest you to try to find online FIR on your states Police department website, it is easy way to get details of any registered FIR Against any person. Hope it will help you in this regard. if you required any specific advoice let me know, you can connect me dircetly.

Yes, it is legally possible that an FIR was registered without you receiving immediate notice, particularly if the police could not locate you at the relevant address; however, 4–5 years of no police contact, notice, summons, or court communication does not by itself confirm that no FIR exists. You can verify this by checking the relevant State Police FIR/complaint portal and, more reliably, through a local advocate who can conduct an FIR/court-case search using your name and other details; if an FIR or case is found, the advocate can obtain its status and advise on appropriate relief, including anticipatory bail if necessary.

Yes, an FIR could theoretically have been registered without the person immediately receiving a copy or notice, depending on the circumstances. However, after 4–5 years without any police communication, summons, or court notice, the actual status should be verified rather than assumed. You can check the FIR/case status through the concerned police station and eCourts, using your name and relevant details. Please send the available details/documents on WhatsApp; after checking them, I can help verify whether any FIR or court proceeding exists and advise the appropriate next step.

If an FIR is registered against you, the appropriate police station will send you a notice for preliminary enquiry or recording your statement. Unless you dont receive a notice by way of post from police station, there is no proof that FIR has been lodged aginst you.

A search needs to be conducted through an advocates letter or an RTI about FIRS or NCS registered against you.. If you let me know your location I can do the needful, shall convey the costs to you..
