Delay in Court Registration of Charge Sheet

01-Jun-2026 (In Criminal Law)
A serious criminal case under Sections 324 and 333 of the BNS was registered against an accused based on strong evidence provided by me. The police completed the investigation and submitted the charge sheet before the court in February. However, the case has not yet been registered (taken on file) by the court. Can I know the reason for this delay? How long does it usually take for the court to register such a case?

At present it seems that police has not registered a strong serious criminal case. Your present case as per the givn sections is house trespass and committing mischief. House trespass can become serious only along with other serious offences. Mischi Meaning a poef is a bailable and non cognizable offense. That means the person couldn't be arrested without Warrant and is bailable also. The only way to know the exact reason for not registering the case is by going to Court and verification by a legal professional.

Usually there will be such delays in the court. The delay you have mentioned is normal in coyrts in kerala. You have an option to approach hon‘ble high court for a time bound disposal of the matter by the concerned court
