Dealing with a fraud person who took my 50,000 and not Returning

Hi Team,
Wanted to know what should be my move here. 1 month back i hire a wood-worker seeing his details from IndiaMART as he was verified seller there. I gave him 50,000 Rs after taking his aadhar card, driving license and cancelled cheque copy on his account. Later he refused to even start the work and told he will return my money. Since then everyday he is saying am returning in two days and after two days some other reason. Have went to police station also multiple time to police also he is lying takes one date and don't return the money on that date. Till now he returned just 10,000 thats too after bugging for 100 times.
What shall i do here to recover my remaining 40,000 amount.

please ask the cops to register the FIR on grounds of cheating as it looks like though you had given a complaint, police have not registered the FIR and hence the carpenter is taking advantage of the same. once FIR is filed, cops have to necessarily arrest the person and inorder to avoid arrest, the carpenter will give you back your money
also inform IndiaMART about this incident so as to blacklist the carpenter
