I am civil engineer working with MSEDCL.Contractor has lodged folse a complaint in writing to my higher office that I have demanded bribe of Rs.1lakh can I lodge complaint under IPC 499/500 Plus defamation

You have to face departmental inquiry if you successfully release from departmental inquiry you can file defamation case..
till you can waiy for departmental inquiry.. defend there only..

You can file defamation case against him.and also complain to higher authorities for listing of contractor in black list.First you file defamation case in a police station.If Police not taken cognizance of complaint.Then you can file private complaint in criminal court.
