Circulation of Photo on public forum

My institute, of which I was a student, has put up a photo of myself with my name at the main gate stating that this person has been banned from entering the campus. I am not aware of any criminal or legal proceedings in my name that warrant such an action. I have received photos from several people asking about this and it is clear that there is defamtion involved. Plus sharing my personal details like this should also be a crime. I need to know my legal recourse.

You can file suit for compensation and punitive action against the college. Your photo cannot be published like that without your consent and more specifically without giving you notice of such action against you.

You can file a Defamation Case + an Injunction suit against the College Authorities to stop this mental harassment, to stop misusing your pic to cause your Defamation at mass scale level. You can file Civil as well as Criminal Defamation.
