Cheating a girl and her family

I want to know that Can I file a case against a boy and his family who fixed marriage with me, they promised me and my family for marriage, the boy dated with me and now they are denying for marriage without any reason. They have cheated me and my family. Can that boy and his family get punishment.. If yes which type? Will it hamper to the boy's carrier bcoz now he is working in a multinational company.

Cancellation of an engagement or a scheduled marriage is not an offence under any law.
However, if you have given any dowry for the purpose of conduct of marriage or if he has taken money from you/your parents under the pretext of marriage, then it constitutes an offence u/s 420 cheating, breach of trust etc.
if the boy has abused the relationship by engaging in sexual acts prior to marriage (under the guise of marriage), the boy is liable to be punished for rape .
Ofcourse any criminal complaint against the boy will destroy his career .
