Carrying lager beer from one place to another is legal or not

I was carrying 12 pints of lager beer costing ₹2000 from Delhi to Noida. It was seized by the police officials standing at the border. I asked them to give me in writing about the illegal activity I performed. They did the paper work but refused to hand over to me. They said that this is the first warning and next time stronger action will be taken. I have the snapshot of the paper work. I want to know the actual law governing the above mentioned incident. I want to take a legal action against the police incase there is nothing illegal about what I did. ?
Please contact with snapshot of papers police official can't size beer with out any action if they have done so then unofficially might have taken beer for their personal use. U may call me as I am advocate looking after such matters
