Can the court grant few days for the accused to appear in court

19-Jul-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I have been booked under Section 354 D, on a false complaint. My case is in court for the past 8 months and yet no results. Since I am a student and unaware of these court things , my lawyer keeps on misguiding me and because of his carelessness , now a warrant has been issued against me as he didn't arrive at court on time. Now he is asking me a huge sum for my bail. I am from a middle class family and not with economically strong background. Unfortunately I have been targeted under a planned conspiracy. I want to ask that will I get few days to search for a new lawyer or Police can arrest me anytime ?What can be the correct legal step for this?

IN the event a warrant has been issued against you, you may need to appear before the court on next date of hearing, or any day before next date of hearing and seek bail. You may inform the court that your counsel did not keep you informed, though its your duty and obligation to make note of each date of hearing. You should hurry and get bail before the next date, else you may be declared a proclaimed offender, leading to registration of another FIR u/s 174A IPC. Police will not come to arrest you as such till you have not appeared on one occasion, however if you fail to appear before the court continuously, that may lead to your arrest and denial of bail, as your case will be considered as that of Bail jump. So my advice to approach a new lawyer and seek bail immediately.
