Boyfriend threatening and blackmailing me to stay with him

12-Nov-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I m a student and got committed to a boy one and half yrs back. He was a perfect boy then but he started becoming extra over possesive over me and also torturing me in my free space of livelyhood. When I deacided to get apart he started blackmailing me and threatening me that he wud expose our intimated pics to my family. And if I donot follow him he immediately does something to blackmail me or threaten me. I cannot take this matter to police as it wud affect my academics and also my family's fame. He is a stubborn boy who is with me just to retain his words that he will be with a single girl for his entire life. What shud I do??

Criminal intimidation and threatening others to cause injury to their reputation is illegal. File a police complaint right away without any delay under 503 IPC, he is looking for some serious jail time. If you can’t do alone, retain a competent advocate in your area to seek help. Stay Safe & Best of Luck

Hi,

Under these circumstances, there is no other way but to take help of your parents and police if you want to be happy in life. Let your parents know everything about your relationship with the boy and his threatening and blackmailing. Don't feel afraid of your parents as ultimately they are the people who will help you till their last breadth. They may talk to the boy and his parents amicably and once they counsel the boy, the boy may listen to them and mend his ways. If this doesn't work out, you may need to complain to the police about his behavior and his blackmailing tactics. You need to take action without feeling threatened about the situation.
