Assault under pretext of marriage

15-Jun-2025 (In Criminal Law)
I was with a boy for 1 year who promised marriage and then took me to hotels. He did touch, kiss and removed my clothes. I let him. We not not get physical fully. Once I resisted but he did not listen. He always used to do it. And I let him because I was in love. Later I came to know he was using me as and left me. Since penetrative sex did not happen, what does it qualify as? Is there anything as Outrage of modesty as it is done under deceit of false marriage promise? Is it sexual assault under

You can register an FIR under Section 73Assault or criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman, section 74 Sexual harassment – includes unwelcome physical contact, advances, etc, Section 75 Assault or criminal force with intent to disrobe a woman and section 318(2) Cheating, including by inducement under false promise of marriage

From the legal standpoint, Yes, it can amount to outrage of modesty, cheating under false promise. No, it will not qualify as rape if no penetrative sex occurred. You are not at fault for trusting someone who misled you.
