Yes, you need a license to sell old coins to foreigners. The sale of antique coins, sculptures, and other artefacts is governed by the Antiquities and Art Treasures Act, 1972. Under this Act, any person who intends to sell or export an antique coin must obtain a license from the Licensing Officer under Section 8 of the Act. If you wish to sell old coins to a foreigner, you must obtain a license from the Licensing Officer appointed for your jurisdiction. Without a license, the sale of antique coins is considered illegal and can result in penalties and legal consequences under the Act as well as Customs Act, 1962.
