A Family Relative, Threatened To Kill My Father

02-Mar-2025 (In Criminal Law)
Relative invested 15L in dad's business, partnership style. Poor profits led to demand for money back. Forced loss-sale of goods yielded 11L return. Dad's now broke. Relative recently re-contacted him. And asked 24 lakhs from dad. Relative Said " tuje nanga karke marunga, teri biwi bache ko shanti se rehne nai dunga" he told dad to commit suicide. I am worried what should I do?

MYSELF SUGGEST YOU TO GET APPOINTED A ADVOCATE FOR YOUR CASE AND FILE AN FIR FOR THE SAME. WE SUGGEST YOU TO CONSULTATION WITH PSYCHOLOGIST AND NOT TO TREMBLE IN SUCH SITUATIONS. THANK YOU. ADVOCATE SUBODH INGOLE.

Tell your dad to file a written police complaint immediately against your relative for extortion, criminal intimidation, abetment of suicide, also we need to mention about his threats to your mother and children Since the demand for ₹24L has no legal backing, and the relative already got ₹11L, this is pure extortion. Take strict legal action so this guy doesn’t dare to harm your dad or family.

File a police complaint (FIR) under criminal intimidation and abetment of suicide. Seek a restraining order and consult a lawyer for civil remedies regarding partnership disputes. Engage in mediation if reconciliation is possible, but prioritize safety and legal action.

Was there any agreement signed between your father and your relative? Did he cash or transferred to your father's account. Need to first understand the circumstances fully then accordingly opinion can be given. So provide full details.

Hello In your case, if the matter is of recovery, your relative can file a civil case against your dad, let the court decide this, and in case if he is still forcing your dad with his illegal activities, you can make a formal complaint to police station. Apart from this forcing someone to commit suicide is a crime. In this case you can again make a police complaint and get the FIR done against your relative under abetment to suicide.
