Is purchasing books and renting them legal?

20-Sep-2023 (In Trademark & Copyright Law)
Hey there, I'm looking forward to starting a venture which will be providing the books at a subscription amount. I'll be buying those books from eCommerce stores like Amazon, Flipkart, etc. So, this is how it will work - I purchase a book and then rent it to someone for some amount, then the buyer returns it to me. So, is this legal? Also, do I need to get some license of the reseller?

This is Legal under the First Sale Doctrine the only exception to the said doctrine is reproduction of the work as a whole - the percentage of reproduction is has to be covered under Fair use.
Also sound recordings and computer programmes fall outside the ambit of First Sale Doctrine

this is completely legal, you are not violating any copyright law. under the copyright Act, only the copying of material is violation of law.. your act is completely legal of buying and selling of books on rent.
