First, issue a legal notice to Apple demanding immediate restoration/retrieval of the approximately 200 GB data, refund of affected iCloud+ charges, and ₹3–4 lakh compensation for deficiency in service, mental agony and inconvenience, failing which file a Consumer Commission complaint.

Namaste, You have a good case under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 as you pay Apple a monthly fee for iCloud plus storage and are therefore a consumer of a paid service and since Apple has itself confirmed that your data exists yet has failed to give you access since 12 August 2026 this clearly amounts to deficiency in service On jurisdiction under Section 34 of the Act you can file the complaint where you reside or work for gain so you need not go to Bengaluru or abroad and the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Hyderabad will have jurisdiction but Hyderabad has more than one District Commission and the correct one depends on your residential locality and since the District Commission hears cases where the value of the service paid for is up to Rupees 50 lakh your case is well within its limit and the complaint can be filed online through the eDaakhil portal without any court fee as the amount paid is below Rupees 5 lakh and you have two years from 12 August 2026 to file under Section 69 As regards parties you should implead the Apple company that actually bills you for iCloud whose exact name appears on the invoice Apple emails after each payment and which may be Apple Inc or another foreign Apple group company and you should also implead Apple India Private Limited Bengaluru so that notice and enforcement in India are easier and any arbitration clause or foreign court clause in the Apple terms will not stop a consumer complaint as settled by the Supreme Court in Emaar MGF Land Limited versus Aftab Singh By way of relief you can ask for a direction to restore full access to your data along with refund of the subscription paid from 12 August 2026 until access is restored and compensation for mental agony and harassment and litigation costs but if you suffered any specific money loss such as loss of work or important documents you must prove it with papers because Commissions award compensation based on proof and not on the figure claimed so the claim should be kept reasonable As immediate steps please do not cancel or downgrade the plan now as a lapse may lead to deletion of data and weaken your case and keep all payment receipts and support case numbers and emails and chat records including the message where Apple confirmed the data exists and then send a legal notice to Apple giving a short deadline to restore access and if nothing happens file the complaint and you may also register a grievance on the National Consumer Helpline which often gets a quicker response from large companies To advise you further I need to know whether the account is for personal use or business use because commercial use can affect your status as a consumer and the exact nature of the problem such as whether the account is locked or disabled or whether Advanced Data Protection was enabled and the recovery key is lost since the question of liability changes if the data is end to end encrypted and the key is lost and I also need your residential locality in Hyderabad and details of the actual loss you have suffered The fee depends on whether you want only a legal notice or the complete complaint till final order and as I practise in Hyderabad and handle such matters you may share your documents through LawRato and I will give you a clear fee quote after reviewing them
