Who can be a witness in a case

Sir or Mam, I want to apply for obc certificate. I have no obc certificate of family member but proof of residence of family since 1993.when I go to sdm office they told me to show two witnes in their office.what type of witnes is required for proof.will any person above 18yrs age eligible for witness? Pls help

As informed by you that SDM office advised you to have two witnesses, any independent witnesses, other than your family members, may be the witnesses, who must attain the age of majority i.e. girl should be more than 18 years of age and boy should be more than 21 years of age. Try your level best to have witnesses your neighbour or any other local person.

Hi there, Take your neighbours as your witness as they would know you and can testify later if required ever that they know your residence and be a proof of your residence. they would need to carry their id proofs. for any further information/clarification please get in touch.
