Training expenses claimed by the previous employer

Hello everyone, I recently quit from a contract job of a govt organization. The organization has filed a complaint against me that I have to pay the charges of the training that I undertook when in service as per contract. However, The amount they are claiming is far greater than the amount that I was paid. Please guide me on this.

it seems a little odd that you have been asked to do so. however the terms of the contract have to be looked into and based on that of the terms come across as perverse or extreme, they may be challenged in the court.
