To add or expand a name on a birth certificate in India, you must apply for a correction or update with the municipal or registration office where the birth was originally recorded. The process typically involves submitting an application form, an affidavit, proof of identity, and sometimes publishing a notice in the government gazette or a local newspaper. In this context, "expansion of initials"means writing out the full form of a person?s initials for example, expanding "J.K.R." to "John Kenneth Roberts." This ensures clarity and avoids ambiguity in official records like passports, birth certificates, or legal applications.
