Playing Badminton in the Society after 11 pm

12-Jan-2023 (In Civil Law)
Recently, many kids, as well as their parents have started playing Badminton in our Society premises. The play normally starts around 9 pm & lasts till 11.30 / 11.45 pm. Off late, 1 out of the total 32 Flat owners, who resides on the 5th Floor has been constantly shouting at kids to not make noise. I would acknowledge that yes since kids play - there is always some noise that happens, however, it is not that loud. We do try & convince the kids to lower their sound at times. At times, he visits the compound & has heated arguments too. On a couple of occasions, this flat-owner had called dialed 100 (police) against the ones who play in the society compound at night. Our Query is, 1) Is there any law that decides what time to play & when to not play? 2) Can one flat owner stop others from playing since he/she is getting disturbed? 3) How to determine the noise happening due to play, is within the permissible limit OR is there any permissible limit? Please help.

There is no Criminal Law as such regulating Sound Pollution specifically under Indian Laws. If he dials 100 to Police, keep him dialling. Police cannot take any action against the residents living in that Society causing noise. it. can't take action against children too.
