Immediately send a legal notice to your friend to stop further disclosure. If you face any stalking/harassment, you can file a complaint with the local police under Section 354D, 503, 506 IPC and also under the Information Technology Act, Section 66E (violation of privacy). You may also approach the Cyber Crime Cell online (National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal).

Hi there, at first you need to provide the details with respect to any incident that happened after leaking the info or if someone unknown tried to contact or harass you. In order to protect your privacy you need to approach local police and cyber crime and report this thing. However, to tailor proper advice for you I'll be needing more details so it's advisable to contact me and provide it.

You can immediately file a written complaint with the local police or the Cyber Crime Cell explaining that your personal details were shared without your consent and you fear stalking or harassment. You can mention that this amounts to a breach of privacy and falls under offences like criminal intimidation and online harassment. You can also send a legal notice to the person who shared your details, warning them not to share any more personal information. If harassment begins, you can seek a restraining order from a court. Keep screenshots or chat records as evidence to support your complaint.

If your friend has revealed your name and address in an anonymous group chat without your consent, this is a violation of your privacy and may also amount to harassment under Indian law. You should immediately save all evidence—screenshots of the group messages and, if possible, details of who shared your information. You are entitled to ask the group admin to delete your data from the chat and caution all members against further sharing. If you experience stalking, threats, or unwanted contact as a result, you should file an online complaint through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal or approach your local police cyber cell. Sections 66E and 72 of the Information Technology Act protect your privacy, and Indian Penal Code sections can also apply if there is harassment or criminal intimidation. You may also send a legal notice to your friend, demanding that they stop disclosing your information and warning of legal action if there is another breach. If you continue to face problems, a lawyer can assist you in pursuing police complaints, civil injunctions to prevent further misuse, and claims for any damages suffered. Your privacy is legally protected, and prompt action will help in stopping further sharing and safeguarding your interests.

First, you can send a legal notice addressed to your friend telling him to immediately delete the shared information, and give you a written apology, and confirm that they won’t share it again. Secondly, if he don’t stop and harassment continues, you can approach the court for a temporary injunction order to remove the content and stop any further sharing. You can also claim damages for breach of privacy or defamation. But this all depends upon the intention and reason for sharing such personal information.
