27-May-2023 (In Civil Law)
I have submitted my original documents of 10th 12th in my college during admission time. I am in private dental college. Currently I am in second year and want to drop out but my college is not returning my documents. They are asking me to pay the fees of remaining years then only they will return the documents. I don’t remember that if I have sign any paper regarding acceptance of this at the time of admission or not. But according to ugc guidelines no college can take original documents

Hello

Colleges do collect original documents but they cannot hold it back at the pretext that you have to pay the fees for the remaining years. You can file a complaint against them that they are holding your documents in such a malafide manner. There are UGC guidelines against such action. Please raise the issue.

Yes,

In this case the college cannot hold your documents and they have to return it as soon as you ask for it. You are only bound for pay for the years you have studied and not beyond it.

If the college is not giving back the documents, it is advisable that we send them a legal notice, if they are not returning the documents through other means.

Thanks

No college can refused to return the original documents. Their act is illegal, unjustified and illegal. You may file police complain and send legal notice also. Further, if you have any documents regarding acceptance of the college conditions at the time of admission. Please share it.
