Non payment of Bill as the bill was calculated wrong.

12-Aug-2023 (In Civil Law)
I received a legal notice regarding a non payment of bill. The billing was done wrong hence I did not pay for the month and then stopped using it at all. The bill is of 38900. Will i he sent to the court ? What actions will they take ? How do I respond as I don’t have that kind of money ? I have paid till the month of February and the bill for March was done wrong.

You need to respond to the legal notice raising the aforementioned dispute regarding calculation and deny any payment due on your part. No criminal proceedings can be initiated against you but they may file a suit for recovery of money against you in Civil Court.

Hello, Sir I have perused your query. In these circumstances you must reply to the legal notice first stating your reason for not making payment in regard to the bill.

You can further request through an application to get your electricity meter checked for increased bill.

A recovery suit can be filed against you. If the bill has been wrongly made then you can definitely challenge it and if you prove that the actual amount which is billable has been paid then your liability stands finished.
