*Court Procedure for Name Change Decree* You've got your name change published in the Gazette, but your university needs a Court Decree. Here's what you can do: - *File a Petition*: Approach the District Court or Family Court with a petition for name change, attaching your Gazette notification and other required documents. - *Publication*: The court may ask you to publish a notice in local newspapers (if not already done). - *Hearing*: Attend the court hearing, where you'll explain your reasons for the name change. - *Court Order*: If approved, the court will issue a decree confirming your name change. *Duration and Costs* - *Duration*: 1-3 months, depending on court processing and hearings. - *Costs*: - Court filing fees: ₹500-₹5,000 - Lawyer fees: ₹2,000-₹10,000 - Publication costs: ₹1,000-₹5,000 *Updating Marksheets and Documents* - *Approach University/Board*: Submit the Court Decree and Gazette notification to update your 10th, 12th, and semester marksheets. - *Required Documents*: Court Decree, Gazette notification, original marksheets, and application form. *Urgent Processing* Given your Masters admission in April, inform the university about your situation and ask if they can expedite the process or accept provisional documents. Do you need help drafting the petition or updating specific documents?
