Inadequate response for RTI filed to SP office.

30-Apr-2026 (In Civil Law)
How should I proceed further when the RTI response for every question is answered with nil and not applicable. Should I file the same to first appellate. If so should I attach the copy of the response from first RTI. Please provide detailed guidance.

it's better if you address the same to the concern collector though she is also the first appleate,if your problem is solved here no further proceedings if not file a petition in highcourt.....and one more thing since you are filed in SP office is it a sensitive matter which can not be made public in such matters RTI won't work if it's related to public issues then your petition is made valid.

hi yes if there is no proper response from the department then you could file appeal before the appellate authority and yes you nèed to attach the response received from the office while filing appeal before the authority with all documents

Yes, you should file a First Appeal under Section 19(1) of the RTI Act before the First Appellate Authority within 30 days from the date of reply received from the PIO. Along with the appeal, attach: Copy of the original RTI application Copy of the reply received from the PIO Any supporting documents, if necessary Clearly mention in the appeal that vague replies like “Nil” or “Not Applicable” have been given without proper information or justification. You may also request the authority to direct the PIO to furnish complete and specific information. If even the First Appeal is not properly answered, you can proceed with Second Appeal before the State Information Commission.
