In India, inter-caste marriages especially those involving a partner from a Scheduled Caste (SC) are recognized and even encouraged through specific government schemes aimed at promoting social harmony and reducing caste-based discrimination. However, the caste status and reservation benefits are determined strictly by birth, not by marriage.
So here's how it works:

  • If a general category boy marries an SC girl:

    • The boy remains in the general category and does not gain any reservation benefits.

    • The SC girl retains her SC status and continues to be eligible for SC-related benefits.

    • Their children will typically inherit the caste of the mother in this scenario, meaning they may be considered SC but this is subject to verification by the competent authority and may depend on social upbringing and acceptance by the SC community.

No you cannot take advantage because now you have converted to General category and the facilities available to General category persons now will be available to you. You cannot conceal this fact from any person.

yes, You can take the benefits of your category as a person cannot change his/her caste even after marriage. However, children born out of your wed-lock would be considered of general category only as a child has to take the caste of his/her father only and not of her/his mother.

No, it doesn't change. It's by birth. You belong to SC category by virtue of your birth in SC family and not because of any other reason. If you marry to any other category your category will remain the same but your kids category would be that of your husband.
