Harrasment by an unknown debtor
29-Sep-2023 (In Civil Law)
My father expired and now one of the debtor who lended father some money is harrassing my mom and younger sister by sending messages regularly on WhatsApp and calling.
After he came home once we talked him out but now again he started same harrasment and threats. My sister is not even 18yrs.
A few days before he has send a legal notice in the name of me, my mother and sister. Three of us haven't inherited anything after the demise of my father.
I want to know what can I do to keep my family safe, and is anyone of us is liable to pay the money back as it was unknown to us and without our consent.
If you’re inherited any thing from your father, including movable or immovable property, you’re liable to repay the debt of your father upto the higher limit of your inheritance from him. Having said that, it is advisable that all 3 of you should reply to this legal notice. Contact a lawyer to draft and send the reply on your behalf.
