Father's Name change in marksheet

03-Apr-2025 (In Civil Law)
There is a mistake of 2 words in the father's name in my 10th and 12th marksheet and I want to get it changed. It has been 4+ years. Can it be done? How much time will it take and how much will it cost?

Yes name change in the marksheet can be done by filing a appropriate case in the court and with the direction of the court, the board can change the details as per the requirement. It doesn’t entail longer time, however better advice can be given after perusing the documents. Feel free to contact. Thanks

For CBSE, name corrections are allowed within five years from the date of result declaration. Since it's been more than four years, you still have a chance to apply directly to CBSE. However, if CBSE refuses the correction due to exceeding the time limit, you can approach the court. Process via Court Order 1.File a Writ Petition in the High Court under Article 226 of the Constitution. 2.Mentioned Grounds for that change or error in petition. 3.Documents Required: • CBSE Marksheets • Father's correct name proof • Affidavit • Any correspondence with CBSE 4.Court's Direction: If the court finds your claim valid, it will order CBSE to make the correction. 5.Time & Cost: • Time: 3 to 6 months • Cost: Depends on the advocate

Obviously it can be done. However since a considerable time period has lapsed the whole process will take 3-4 months. I am assuming that you are from the CBSE board. For any other board too the process can be done but time will vary. You can connect if required for further help.
