Divorce based on mental harassment can I apply for compensation

I am a hindu. My mothr in law is mentally disturbed. Her treatment is going on. She z very very abusive. This fact was hidden from us before marraige. After Marraige she used to harass me all d tym hurling bad words and criticising me and my family. Once she came charging to slap me just coz I had locked my cupboard. Husband never once stood up for me.I left the house within 3 months of marraige. Can I get divorce based on mental harassment. can I apply for financial compensation?
