Defamation and property rights

Helo sir i m teacher in government school.my parents were died (my father died 4 years before).i had 3 sisters.after my dad's dead,they claim property which is under my possession about 20years or more.i too said that i will give them their portion of property.but after i accept to gave, they started claiming money about 2 lakhs.and inorder to defame my name in my village,they started saying that "he doesnt do any jewel or cash for their marriage and for their daughters marriage".but i was studying 10 std during their marraige and for their daughters marraige,they didint give me invitation in proper manner i received day before marraige so i didnt went.By keeping this ,they purposefully damaging my name in my village where i m working.i feel so bad by this action.is there is any way of claiming defamation against them or any other way to punish them for this silly action? and they married before 1980s, so do they have right to claim property

Under the Hindu law, property is divided into two types: ancestral and self-acquired. ... For descendants, be it a daughter or son, an equal share in such a property accrues by birth itself. Before 2005, only sons had a share in such property

father has died only four years before so all the legal Heirs of your father have equal rights in the property regarding defamation if you have if you can't prove by worrall evidence or documentary evidence that is in the written form you can proceed if not it is and vain only
