Cops harrass couples in hotels and ask phone no. of parents..what to d

Can unmarried couples stay in India without the fear of cops?? If cops tell to give phone no. of parents..what to do in that case??

yes it is totally legal to stay in hotels and have sex in India if you and your mating partner are not minor. if police harasses you for that you can refuse to give the contact number of your parents and make a call on 100 number. file a case against police officer.
dial 100 may not help but the record would help you in further case.

Hi,

This is nothing but harassment on part of the police. Couples over and above the age of 18 are not restricted by any such laws from staying with one another. In fact, couples from the same city are also allowed to check into hotels. Any interference from the police and they should be asked as to what section of the law has been violated.

Any interference by the police in such cases is in fact a restriction to the 'Freedom of movement' under Article 19 of the Constitution of India.

The police are only seeking to extort money out of you. You can let me speak with them. Do let me know if you need clarifications.
