Can someone defame me without disclosing his identity

Can someone defame me with a letter before my Higher authorities without mentioning his own identity? Is that complain latter valid?

If the defame in the letter according to u is false,u can challenge it.and deny it.U can ask the name of the person from the authority who defame u.and can take legal action against the defaming person.otherwise take legal action against your authority

No without complete identity no complain case is maintanable . That may be a invalid complain but it is a information of the illegal act . considering on that information your authorities may try to find out the fact

Anonymous Letters are valid, if the allegations levelled in the same are found to be true. If not, those letters have no legal sanctity. Unless I know the details about the letter, it will be difficult to comment further.
