Can I transport my friends passport to their relatives in India?

My friend (Indian Citizen) is pregnant and cannot travel internationally (She is Currently in USA). She has her Visa stamping appointment in India and her relatives are planning to attend the same in her lieu. I would be travelling to India from US soon and she has asked me to transport her passport to her relatives. She would be giving me an authorization letter for carrying her passport and giving it to her relatives. Wanted to check if this would be legal or anything else would be required ?

Sir In that case you must approach the appropriate authority which can be Ministry of external affairs or passport authorities or Concerned embassy. It is illegal to transport any others passport or Visa you can be held up for inquiries by the authorities if you do so. The person who requires his or her documents to be transported to India must write down to the said authorities.
