Can I enter my matrimonial house if it's locked
10-Nov-2023 (In Civil Law)
Hello,
I went to live to my matrimonial house to cohabit with my husband and in-laws, but they all physically assaulted me. Police came and took me for my medical treatment. When I returned back I found that they all had locked the door and ran off. I complained the same to the police. It's more than one week, my valuables, clothes and all items are inside the house.
1. Can I break the lock of the house? I am being abandoned helplessly.
House owner is father in law, husband still lives there, I lived in a domestic relationship there.
2. Father in law was saying that they had disowned there son, and they don't know where he is. And that there son had filed divorce (I have not received any petition or notice) and no legal papers of disowning son. They are enjoying there lives outside.
you should immediately talk with an advocate of your choice from your locality. You have some options with you but every action may see it's consequences. you should analyse each option and then take a call.

You can break the lock & start living over there, simply because, after marrying you, your Husband started Domestic Relationship with you in that particular house. So, you have a right to live in that house until and unless your father in law lodges a Case in Court to evict you. Court may or may not evict you depending upon certain factors.
