How can I file divorce and take custody of child

I'm a government employee with a salary of rs.12,000 p/m. I'm seperated from my parents 10 days ago. I want divorce from my wife and custody of my 4 year old child. kindly suggest what can i do to assure the same.
You can file for divorce in the family court of your jurisdiction and claim for custody of your child. But when the child is below the age of 5 years the custody of the child goes to the mother in most of the cases.
