Time lapsed to deposit in session court

22-Oct-2026 (In Cheque Bounce Law)
Hi, The session had provided 90 days time to deposit 20% of the fine amount but i failed to deposit. Now the respondent has taken warrant from trail court. I managed the police somehow once and escaped. Now my lawyer is suggesting that till i arrange the 20% amount i should go absconding because if the police catches me there is no other option left rather then clearing full fine amount. I just want to know if i go absconding will the police trouble my family members if yes what can be done

In a Sessions Court in India, the standard time limit to deposit a fine or compensation amount (such as the 20% interim deposit under Section 148 of the Negotiable Instruments Act or conditional bail orders) is 60 days from the date of the order, with a possible extension of up to 30 more days (total 90 days) if the court grants it upon showing sufficient cause
