RBI Complaint Compensation Offered By Bank

24-Mar-2025 (In Banking / Finance Law)
I have complaint on RBI portal about recovery calls of credit card bill outstanding as collection calls were made to my relatives and neighbours. Now bank has sent me an email stating that RBI has directed to compensate me with Rs. 20000. However, no such decision is showing on RBI portal against my complaint. The bank is not sharing RBI's decision copy. Should I accept Rs. 20000 now or wait for RBI's reply. I am not sure about the process.

unless you have a documentary proof of any such decision it is hereby requested not to accept any such offer. Wait for the RBI reply and if such a decision was there it should have been communicated to you first

Until you get clarity from RBI or the bank shares written confirmation, hold off on formally accepting the amount. You ask for confirmation from RBI or request a copy of the RBI directive/order from the bank.

in this case you can send a legal notice pressing upon the charges of defamation in regards to the calls made to your family and relatives / friend . Secondly a legal notice that includes the required document or the information or guidelines provided by RBI and regards to the statement that the bank or the financial institution is pressing upon. there are various other remedies that could be followed detailed perview of the situation is conveyed.
