How to give power of attorney for selling of property

23-Apr-2023 (In Property Law)

Hi I am based in Singapore. We hold a property in Ahmedabad (my wife is the primary holder and I am the joint owner). My wife would like to give me a Power of Attorney for sale of property. Can you please advise regarding the procedure for the same? I am looking for the format of the power of attorney. Does it need to be printed on stamped paper in India and then sent to me? I can get it attested at the embassy in Singapore. How I do get it registered in Ahmedabad?

Dear sir,
Ideally power of attorney for transfer of a property should be given to a blood relative because the authorities raise objections due to various cases of fraud whereby power of attorneys transfer lands without the knowledge and actual consent of the original owners.

The format should be such that is acceptable in india but can be attested as per the laws of singapore. You can not notarise or attest an Indian Stamp paper in another country.

You may contact me for further help in drafting of the power of attorney.
