Can I refuse to give my land for construction to the government?

On the road side ,there is govt department constructed in 1950-60 , after that there is my property, now , due to expansion in road the govt building will b deconstructed. Now my question is, govt approach me for land for construction of there building , whether I can refuse or it is compulsory acquisition ?

As per the land acquisition act you cannot do anything about it. But the government has to follow due process as provided in the act for the acquisition of the land. If the government has failed to Go through the procedure they cannot. But ultimately in the end road widening is for public purposes and one has to necessarily provide his land.
