Query related to the recently passed Maternity Benefit Act

08-May-2023 (In Labour & Service Law)
Hi, Can you please advice if under the Maternity Benefit Act, maternity leave actually counts from the day of delivery of the baby (including the delivery day), OR from the day I took the maternity leave (which was few days before my baby was born)? In the former case, I am eligible for the 26 weeks leave under the new amendment of the Act and in latter case - I am not.

Under the Maternity Benefits Act of 1961,a women employee is entitled to and She can take all her Maternity Leave after the birth of her child and the benefit shall be payable only for the days up to and including the day of her . Even If you take six weeks off before your delivery, the law entitles you to that .
