Flat transferred to a son through Will do we have get probate?

We stay in 1 bhk flat in building which is under tenancy rights of custodian enemy property. My father has written will in which the 1 bhk flat is in the name of my son. But the officer telling me to get probate. Is it necessary? Will is notarised and my father’s thumb impression is also there. What is the other method of transfer. Please reply.

Probate is the legal process where by a will is "proved" in a court and accepted as a valid public document that is the true last testament of the deceased. Therefore a probate is necessary for the execution of a will.
