Under the Central Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, a Central Government employee cannot directly or indirectly engage in trade or business without prior government permission. While your parents can legally start and run an EXIM business in their own name with proper registrations (IEC, GST, etc.), you cannot participate in managing, negotiating, or communicating with buyers—even after office hours—as this may be treated as indirect involvement and misconduct. You may invest money as a passive investor or give funds as a documented loan/gift, but you must not take part in operations or represent the business in any way. Violating these rules could lead to departmental action, including inquiry or dismissal.

Central Govt employees cannot engage in business without prior permission under Conduct Rules. Even indirect involvement may attract action. Keep business solely in parents’ name; avoid signing, managing or drawing income. Seek written approval first.
