Both the society or trust are registered under society registration act. While the society is being formed to take care of a cause or some action plan etc a trust is being formed to take care of some property let's say an old temple, a hospital or a school or something like that. As far as collecting the fee for membership is concerned then you can collect the same in both the format (society as well as trust) provided that is there written in your constitution.

As per your requirement, registering a Society under Societies Registration Act would be best. Trust is not meant for forming associations. In society, you can accept membership fee also. It becomes very difficult in accepting membership fee in Trust. But, you can get donations in Trust, not membership.

In your case, there is society to be registered as per the society act. There must be minimum 7 person are required to form a society to be registered with the registrar office under Societies Registration Act 1860. You can contact me for the same.
