We returned all money but has no proof, received a notice. What to do?

31-Jan-2023 (In Recovery Law)
Hi, My brother works in a government organization(KSRTC). He has borrowed some money(80k) from a person giving a blank cheque. We got a legal notice from the money lender saying we have not returned their money (which mentions 138 and 420 acts). We have returned all principal amount + interest, but not compound interest. We don't have any proofs for returning their money. My questions are 1. Does it cause any problem for his job? 2. Can we fight legally if we are not going to pay the amount(compound interest)?

Dear sir/Madam,
Once receiving notice under 138 of NJ act, it is your duty to give proper reply with good defense, when they filed case you always have opportunity to take defense before court what are all available under law.
