You should definitely appear before the Lok Adalat on the given date. Lok Adalat is not a regular court but a forum for settlement through conciliation, so no adverse order is passed if you are unable to pay immediately. If you don’t attend, the matter may go back to court and can result in a decree against you with added costs and interest. You can appear and explain your financial position, seek time, or negotiate for a lower settlement amount. If you are unemployed and unable to pay at present, you can request installments or even deny liability if you have valid legal grounds. Attending gives you an opportunity to protect your rights and avoid harsher recovery proceedings later.

Hi there, whether you should appear or not depends on the previous proceedings going on between you and the lender. In generality, you must appear there through an advocate and plead your case. It's advisable to contact me and provide more details to assist you better.

If you have received the notice to appear then you should appear before the DLSA or else warrants can also be issued against you by the court. And on the date you can request the opposite party to give some time and also reduce the amount by doing settlement.
