Recovery of Pending Freelance Payment / Non-Payment for Services

07-May-2026 (In Recovery Law)
I completed freelance work for a developer/client around 4 months ago, but payment of ₹10,000 is still pending. We do not have a formal written contract, however I have WhatsApp chats, work delivery proof, and payment discussions confirming the agreement and pending amount. I need legal advice regarding recovery of dues and sending a legal notice for non-payment of services. how much will it cost and what should be my step, how can i recover that payment

We can send the legal notice for recovery of 10,000/- along with interest or more, subject to documents. This is only to determine if they have admitted the liabilities of the work that you’ve done and the amount that is payable by them.

Send legal notice via a competent lawyer like me. Then file a small claims under Section 4 of MSMED Act or civil suit before the concerned MSMED Court or Civil Court. You need to pay Court fees to Court and Attorney fees to the Advocate to run your case.
