Section 25 of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007, pertains to the dishonor of electronic funds transfers due to insufficient funds or exceeding agreed-upon limits. If an electronic transfer, like an ECS mandate or auto-debit, fails because the payer's account lacks sufficient funds or exceeds their credit limit, the payer can be penalized with imprisonment up to two years, a fine up to twice the transfer amount, or both.
