If payment is pending from a Government department for more than one year, you should take immediate legal steps. Firstly, send a formal legal notice to the concerned department demanding release of payment with interest, mentioning work order, bills submitted and approval status. If no response, you can: • File a writ petition before the High Court for direction to release legitimate dues • Claim interest for delayed payment • In contractual matters, initiate civil recovery suit or arbitration (if clause exists) You may also follow up through RTI to know file status and reasons for delay. Delay by Government without justification is arbitrary and can be challenged legally. Proper documentation will strengthen your case.
