Money lent to a friend and he is not returning it now

My father helped one of his friend two years Rs. 50000, now he is refusing to return the amount. Please advice what step I should take?
is there any proof of payment made by your father to his friend. if yes they you can file a suit for recovery before the Hon'ble Court with interest against your friend as well. you may also send him a legal notice initially to start the proceedings and as a proof to be shown in the court of law
