Loan Recovery Notice and Financial Hardship Guidance

28-Jun-2026 (In Recovery Law)
I have defaulted on my personal loan due to genuine financial hardship. I have already informed the lender in writing and responded to the legal notice. I am willing to settle the loan after arranging funds but cannot pay immediately. Recovery agents are calling frequently and asking for payment. What are my legal rights? Can I request time or settlement? What should I do if recovery agents keep pressuring me?

I know dealing with financial stress is incredibly tough, but please take a deep breath. Defaulting on a personal loan due to genuine hardship is a strictly civil matter, not a criminal one. Since you’ve already responded to their legal notice in writing, you have already established your good faith intention to pay. Here is exactly what you need to know about your rights and how we will handle this: Your Rights Against Recovery Agents Under strict RBI guidelines, recovery agents are legally forbidden from harassing, threatening, or shaming you. They cannot call you at odd hours (only between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM) and they absolutely cannot contact your family, friends, or coworkers. Requesting a Settlement You have every right to ask for time. Once you have a lump sum arranged, we can formally negotiate a One-Time Settlement (OTS) with the lender, or ask for a temporary loan restructuring to give you some breathing room. What We Will Do Next If the agents keep pressuring you, start recording every single call. We will file an official complaint with the bank’s Grievance Redressal Officer. If they don't fix it within 30 days, we will take them straight to the Banking Ombudsman. Please send over the legal notice and your written reply so I can take over communication and demand the bank restrains their agents. For further assistance please contact me on WhatsApp
