Lent money to a friend but did not return it and has stop responding

13-Jan-2023 (In Recovery Law)

One of my friends has borrowed about 5.5 lakhs from me to help her family situation and had agreed to return the amount within 6 months. However, she had requested for extension of 3 more months and now that it's the end of period, she's neither picking my call nor promising for an exact date of repayment it's been several conversations we've had whenever she'd returned my call, but has never lived up to her word she had only given us a hand loan agreement and a blank cheque duly signed. not sure how to take this forward. should i present the cheque in the bank so it could bounce?

Yes you can present the cheque in the bank and if cheque gets bounced you can issue a legal notice, If no reply is received from the opposite party you can file a case u/s 138 of Negotiation Instruments Act and can also file for recovery suit in the court.
